Giving the key note speech, in place of Andrew Jones MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State who was unfortunately unable to attend due to Parliamentary business, Fiammetta Gordon said:
Firstly, I would like to congratulate all those local authorities, many of whom are represented in the room today - who put the public - centre stage. Lest any of us forget, the public are the users of our transport system, be they motorists, cyclists, pedestrians or public transport passengers.
What you are finding out, through work like the NHT Survey, is how well your authority’s highways and transport services are doing in the tax payer’s eyes. You will also be reminded today, how important rigorous public survey and technical evidence is in demonstrating how you are doing......"
